How much is motorcycle insurance for a 150cc moped?

by Scooter Insurance on July 27, 2010

I’ve heard some people say $100 a YEAR. And some $250 a MONTH. Big difference. Who is more correct?

And I’m just wanting a rough guess. Not an exact quote. So please no answers for me to contact a local agent. Thanks! :)

pretty inexpensive with a clean driving record. if you have driven a car for some time and have a bad record (tickets, dui, at fault accidents, etc) they will consider that when insuring you. so the cleaner, the better

that said here in SoCal i pay roughly $90 a year for basic liability. that is all you need to ride one. i also have uninsured / under-insured coverage that is around $16 a year, and comprehensive coverage which covers theft, fire, incidental damage, loss….essentially all that "my bike is gone" stuff. that is around $116 a year. i have one other thing, too. but i forget what it is.

total cost to me is $224 a year. this is with GEICO Powersports insurance, and the value of the scoot (150cc) is $3,500. i have been licensed 17 years and have a spotless driving record. i am also a new rider with just a permit and have NOT taken the MSF course. if i complete the course and become fully licensed i am told my rate will be even lower

I am not an insurance agent. I don’t know where you live. Don’t know your age. Don’t know if you are in school or working. Don’t know the brand of moped. Don’t know your grades if you are in school. Don’t know if you rent or are a homeowner. Don’t know if you are single or married or have any dependents. Don’t know your state’s requirements for insurance. Don’t know if you own the moped or are financing. Don’t know why you can’t contact an insurance company for a rate quote. We are not insurance agents.

$0.00. There’s no such thing as a 150cc moped. Mopeds are under 50cc.

But seriously, there are too many variables to give even a rough estimate:
(1) The Rider: Age?, Sex? Riding and driving experience?, Driving record? Previous claims?
(2) Location: Urban/rural? What state? What COUNTRY are we talking about?
(3) The Moped: Age? Value?
(4) Use of Vehicle: Pleasure? Commuting?
(5)Coverage: Liability? Collision? All perils?

Shall I simply guess the answers to all of the above questions, or just throw you a random price?
