Don’t buy a sports car that requires full coverage insurance.
He needs to buy an old vehicle with liability only to reduce his premium. After 3 years of experience behind the wheel of a car with no tickets or accidents, his rates will go down considerably!

Sport car generally have a higer insurace premium. But $4k for a off-peak car (weekend car had change to off-peak car since 1995) is crazy.
Honda Esi is a good car. But if you are looking for a used Honda car, probably you can look for a 1996-1998 Honda VTi or EXi, which just re-new 10 COE. As the depreciation will be about the same or even lower than a 1991-1993 Honda ESi.
