How much would motor insurance cost me?

by Scooter Insurance on February 8, 2010

Hi, im nearly 21 and a female. I cant actually ride a motor bike atm but want to learn as i am in love with bikes. However i dont know how much it would cost me to insure one. Obviously i would have to ride a 125cc in the first year but thats cool, gotta start somwhere!! I have private parking and live in a nice area of glasgow??
Any rough ideas??

My first motor insurance in the UK was for a 125cc, non uk citizen (EU citizen though) and the cost was £280 for one year.

I had a certified lock, off street parking, aged 25.

You might get the same rate or even if you are a uk citizen.
You might get discount if you ve got a garage to lock your bike in.

Cheaper also if you decide not to carry any passengers…cheaper if you get an alarm…

My second year was only £180 !

All the best

You start with CBT and then get on a 50cc scooter, after a few months, if you are still alive, book some lessons and a bike test on a bike with gears. The rules are complex and are just changing, ask bike shops in your area.

Hi,
First get driving lessons and learn the rules of the road & then start Make sure you are fully confident on the road and you know what you are doing. My advice is shop around. Dont take the first price you get. Check out who’s your family insured with or friends and maybe you might get a better deal

Shouldn’t cost you to much – you’re over 18, female and it’s a small bike. I would say roughly around 300-400GBP per year. Have you tried doing a search on Google for "motorcycle insurance"? You can then get some more accurate quotes than here.
